September for me is the start of the real fishing season after a long hot summer. Cool nights bring that water temp down into the low 70’s and fish activity up! Almost everything that swims is almost instantly more aggressive as they feed up for the upcoming colder season. They know it, like an alarm clock going off…its feeding time!

Stripers will come up from their deep water haunts and start to migrate back to the shallower feeder creeks chasing bait. They get lively this time of year, as live & chunk bait is a sure thing in the fall. My favorite trolling game comes alive, with large bucktails & Maja Mojo’s easily taking nice chunky stripers.

Fall is also the time for crappie! Late season evening crappie trips are a favorite. My fishing buddy Josh Taylor has a secret spot on ‘ol Mauch Chunk lake. We have been known to catch a few dozen each on a cool evening. All released of course, we keep very few.

Of course all the other favorites are in full swing, Trout, Largemouth, Smallmouth, Walleye, Musky, etc. Its he best time of year to sets your sights on a new PB, all we need to do is Get out & Get on ’em!
