What We Fish For
Stripers
Stripers are one of the most popular area fish to fish for and can be found both in Saltwater and Freshwater. These fish are lively when hooked and can grow to 80 lbs or more. A Pocono Outdoors Guy favorite for sure!
Bass
Largemouth and Smallmouth are found in all area lakes and rivers. The excitement of a largemouth hitting a topwater is second to none! Smallmouth are known for being great fighters when hooked out of deep cool water.
Fluke
Fluke are saltwater fish and can be found in open water and in estuaries and bays. Often sought after both as a gamefish and table fare. Fluke (flounder) are a lot of fun to catch and are delicious to eat.
Walleye
Walleye are some of the most delicious fish you can ever grace your table with. Walleye are freshwater fish and can be found in both rivers and lakes throughout the US. Area deep lakes and rivers are ideal walleye territory.
Trout
This area is ideal for a variety of trout. Rainbows, Browns, and Brook trout will test your skills. Not only in the mountain streams, but giant Browns and Rainbows lurk in some of the area rivers and deep lakes. Be ready for a battle!
Catfish/Carp
Most anglers do not recognize these as gamefish until they end up with a giant on the other end of the line! Both species are fierce fighters, and a great way to spend a summers day chasing these awesome bottom feeders.
Black Crappie
Absolutely great table fare and a fall favorite to catch. Giant Crappie can make for a challenging evening. If you can find the schools, its a great night, however they can be an elusive opponent!
Musky/Pike
Strong fighters and lots of teeth make any Musky or Northern Pike a much sought after gamefish. Pike are slightly easier to catch with a nasty attitude to attack your lure, Musky are just as fierce, just a bit more cautious.
American Shad
A seasonal favorite here in Eastern Pa. It is a right of passage and often kicks off the fishing season with large schools of shad migrating up river to spawn in early Spring. Certainly a local favorite.
Fishing Reports
Early November Striper Fishing
Beautiful warm November days are rare, so When Tony Maja Jr invited me on a mid week Striper trip, I was in the car and down the shore as fast as my Jeep would go. Reports have been sketchy, schools of bass have been reported here and there. But as my Friend Jim...
Leaser Lake Musky….
Quick trip to Leaser Lake with my son Jeremy today to get into some Leaser Lake Musky. Decided to grab the kayaks and head out early. Since temperatures are dropping, thought it might be a good time to try for some Muskies. Hit the water about 7am, first light. We...
Delaware River Musky Hunt…
We had a Musky trip planned for well over a month. Tim Keebler of Fin Seeker Guide Service had a great day planned for Jim Hutchinson (The Fisherman Magazine fame) and myself. As the Sept 21 drew closer, Tim warned us of poor conditions on the river. Water was really...

“What can I say about George. First he is an great fisherman with a lot of years and knowledge behind him. He is one of the few guys I always bounce ideas off of when I’m stuck with new products. . “I know many amazing anglers, but very few as passionate and dedicated to the sport of fishing, as George Schauer. He is not only a great angler but amazing promoter of fishing, bringing our community of anglers together at so many levels.”
“On top of being an experienced and knowledgeable angler, George is also genuine which is what makes him so very unique. I’ve met a lot of good people in the recreational fishing industry over the years, but few are as true-blue as my friend the Pocono Outdoors Guy. ”
