Well, its that time of year, water temps start to fall and we get ready for the seasonal “turnover”. Turnover occurs when the surface water temps are lower than the water temps say, 20 feet deep or so. (and vice versa in the spring). What do you fish for this time of year, and how do you go about fishing them? Post up your comments right here….
Mid Fall Turnover Tactics

Awesome gotta get on some freshwater stripers one day but trying to get out for the herd that’s running currently in the salt and they are huge as you know Tight Lines and Screaming drags my friend
You know it Gen! Hopefully be out with the Maja crew this coming week…
One of my favorite tactics for this time of year is chasing those freshwater stripers back into the shallows as they chase bait up in the coves and backwater feeder creeks. Great time of year as they feed up heavy. Chicken Livers and other cut bait work well, balled up on a 7/0 circle hook. Other artificial options are plugs, and even topwater in the early morning and later afternoon. Probably some of the best striper fishing on the lake is in the fall.
A favorite fall tactic that I love is moving into river mouths and up the arms of large reservoirs. As the water begins to get a little cooler than ideal temperatures for the baitfish, they move into the more oxygen rich arms and mouths. Where giant catfish and other predators ambush them! A perfect place to set some baits!
100% Josh…Speaking of which, when are we getting out on ’em?
