Quick trip to Leaser Lake with my son Jeremy today to get into some Leaser Lake Musky. Decided to grab the kayaks and head out early. Since temperatures are dropping, thought it might be a good time to try for some Muskies.

Hit the water about 7am, first light. We were each stocked with a variety of plugs and some spoons, ready for bragging rights to a beautiful Tiger Musky. Right off the ramp on the right is a shallow weeded cove, just perfect for those trophies. After several dozen casts, I moved on to try the different shoreline.

Jeremy tried a cove across from the launch, paddling ahead of me a few hundred yards. I soon followed him, working a long trout patterned stick bait. Near show was far too much weed, so I had to work just off the weed line in deeper water. Tossed plugs for about two hours, both of us with no luck. I decided to try for some bass, since the Musky seems off today. Mean eye jig head with a 4″ gulp paddle tail. Think Jeremy hit every inch of shoreline twice, still no luck.

Winds started to kick up a bit. Passed another angler on the water, he said he only caught a very small largemouth, it was not a productive day for anyone it seemed. Both Jeremy & I had thoughts of a hot lunch, so we decided to paddle back to the launch an call it a day. Will be back in a week or so to hit ’em again!
