Things are definately cooling down here in the Pocono area, but fishing is still in good shape. Anglers still producing some great smallmouth, walleye, as they are still chasing bait up in shallow water. Jerkbait have been the bait of choice still for many anglers, other slower presentations will work as well, like a NED RIG, Jig, etc.

Often as water cools, trout will beginning to get very active, so it was this week with a few anglers checking in from both PA and New Jersey, Justin Learner got into some great Rainbow action on a Trout Magnet (photo above), always a great trout producing bait.

Eric Gustzaw managed to put his fly rod back to work and get into a bunch of rainbows as well… his handmade dry flies were proving to be very successful in getting several beautiful fish in the net.

Finally, panfish action is always a great way to spend a fall day. Jigging up a mess of yellow perch or other panfish. Josh Taylor was able to find a nice school of jumbo yellow perch her in the southern Pocono area. Easy pickins’ on small jig heads tipped with a shiners.

Still lots of open water fishing yet, have about 7 weeks left in the year, then we start talking about the hard water!
