Often this time of year can be tricky to get on some fish, especially with unpredictable weather. This past week has shown off & on day sof cold & rain, yet many anglers have been getting on some respectable fish. One common tactic we have seen is the use of “Jerk Baits” in late fall. I have used this tactic with trout guys even in mid-winter for some heafty brown troout, but it has been producing welll in the past few weeks.

Our good friend Jsh Taylor has been raking in the walleye now for the past fee weeks on a Rapala X-Rap, consistantly getting into some keeper fish. Working it at the areas of dropoff.

Also working the Jerkbaits was Ryan Swope, getting good action on the Susquhanna, near Juniata. The smallmouth were all over the eratic bait presentation, getting Ruan into a bunch of fish in the 2-3.5 pound range.

Rich Bates scored big using Jerk Baits as well, when he was throwing a “Husky Jerk” and landed himself his new PB Northern Pike at 36″. Its a good time of year to go after those cold water fish like Pike & Musky. Smallmouth, walleye are also great cooler water fish.

But not a surprise, Eric Gusztaw managed to land himself a chunky largemouth on the jerk bait presentation as well. Putting his fly rod aside for a bit, was a good choice as the largies seem to want that presentation as well in this cooler water….

Still great open water fishing around, Let’s get on ’em!!
